Dr Matthew Tan graduated from the University of Sydney Medical School in 2015, prior to which he obtained a Honors Degree in Life Sciences from the National University of Singapore in 2011.He was awarded the Ministry of Health Pre-Employment Grant and returned to Singapore to serve at the 2 major tertiary institutes in Singapore – Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and the National University Health System (NUHS). The majority of his time in the public service was spent in the Pediatric Surgery department which was where he developed his interest in Circumcision techniques for the best aesthetic outcomes.
In addition to Pediatric Surgery, Matthew rotated through a range surgical subspecialty including Hepatobiliary Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Breast Surgery and Trauma Surgery. He has a keen interest in research and continually stays up to date with the latest developments in patient care. He continues to contribute to research by publishing articles and reviewing for academic journals and has presented his work at both local and international conferences. Matthew is a firm proponent for inclusivity in healthcare and believes that everyone deserve the opportunity to understand their medical condition and work with their doctors to achieve their health goals.
Dr Tan Kok Kuan graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2001 and was a resident doctor in the two largest public hospitals in Singapore; Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Singapore General Hospital. As part of the SARS taskforce in SGH, he tended to ill patients with suspected SARS during the outbreak. Dr Tan also worked and trained at the Singapore National Eye Center, National Heart Center and National Skin Center.
After leaving government service, Dr Tan set up Robertson Medical Practice which was appointed by Singapore’s Ministry of Health as an official Anonymous Testing Site for HIV. This one clinic grew to become the DTAP (Dr Tan & Partners) Group of Clinics and Dr Tan served as the group CEO. Dr Tan stepped down from this role in 2020 to pursue his true passion of patient care and advancing the science and research of STD/HIV and Men’s Health. With a special focus on advanced techniques for Circumcision and novel treatments for Erectile Dysfunction.
Dr Tan has since been very active in the fields of STD and HIV and was one of the authors for Singapore’s National HIV PrEP Guidelines and Singapore’s Blueprint to end AIDS and HIV Transmission by 2030. He has also spoken at numerous local and international conferences on STD/HIV and Men’s Health. Dr Tan is also a published author and reviewer of medical peer reviewed journals.
